MeMe Time!

Filed under: Moi, Lemming — Kristi at 8:35 am on Tuesday, August 8, 2006

First off, all of your wonderful support has been nearly overwhelming, first with all the great encouragement and celebrating of my weight loss on Friday and yesterday all the offerings of hugs and understanding. I hope you’ll forgive me if I don’t get return e-mails out to all of you. My head is spinning (though I’m not spinning since last week) and whirling and I’m having difficulty concentrating on most tasks. I jump everytime the phone rings and more so when the caller ID indicates it is family calling.

I had set out to try concentrate on sewing one of my skirts yesterday. However, it seemed whenever I was ready to iron and cut the fabric I got a phone call from SIL3 wanting a ride. Her car overheated big time on the Interstate over the weekend and I’m the natural choice for rides to/from the garage. So, nothing got done on the skirt front yesterday except to move the fabric from the drying rack to the ironing board.

Then, last evening we headed to the basement only to discover that our flourescent light over the back portion either needs a new ballast or both tubes blew at the same time. That is the primary lighting source for my sewing area. I can get good enough light to iron/press decently I think and I’ll likely cut upstairs on the dining room table and the sewing machine has it’s own light, but I’m concerned about the lighting situation and whether I should attempt it at all. That combined with my inability to really concentrate too much has me wondering if I should put the skirts off. But, I really have little that fits as it should and I would really like to have at least one skirt made by the time I need to go back and all three done before the already scheduled September trip.

Sometimes it just feels as if the world is conspiring against you…Anyway, to the meme…

Birdsong kind of openly tagged people for the following meme and since I have a lot of newer readers since EPWM who probably don’t know much about me I thought it would be nice to share this with you all… I also figure it is a good way to stall until I have something truely blog-worthy. Those who know all of it, I apologize, though I suspect even my local knitting comrades will find something new on this list…

A ) Four jobs I have had :

1. Calf Feeder (a whopping 10 cents per calf, I was like 8)
2. Database Engineer and Data Entry Specialist (another farm job from high school days)

4. Meteorologist

B) Four movies I would watch over and over:
1. Sabrina (the old version)
2. The New Guy
3. Bed of Roses
4. Anne of Green Gables

C) Four places I have lived:
1. Willmar, MN
2. Grand Forks, ND
3. Fort Collins, CO
4. ????

D) Four TV shows I enjoy watching:
1. The Gilmore Girls
2. The Closer
3. Millennium 1, 2 & 3
4. Firefly

1. North Shore of MN (Duluth, Grand Marais, Two Harbors etc.)
2. Yellow Grass, SK
3. Phoenix, AZ (part for work, but I took extra days to stay with family)
4. Orlando, Florida (band trip in high school, celebrated my 16th birthday there)

F) Websites I visit daily:

1. Gmail
2. and Career Builder
3. Weather Underground and Christman Field Observations (can’t take the meteorology out of the girl I guess)

G) Four of my favorite foods:

1. Chocolate (dark is my fav, though not too acidic)
2. Ice Cream (my downfall in the heat)

H) Four places I would rather be right now:

1. “Home” in MN
2. At Ranger Lakes or Red Feather Lakes or perhaps the Snowy Range ala Hannah (higher elevation, cooler temps and preferrably water near by)
3. Sweden (of course I need to learn the language first)
4. Cuddling the pooch, but she’ll have nothing to do with me right at the moment…

I am sure you are on pins and needles every time the phone rings. Only you know what is best and when to go. I am sending cyber hugs and best thoughts and prayers for a safe journey and wonderful memories.

I have to ask you, when/why were you in Yellowgrass, Saskatchewan?? Regina (capital city, to the north) is home to me and having been to Yellowgrass many times or should I say “through” it, I am amazed to see an American even knowing where it is!!! :)

mmmm…sushi! I am always impressed when people have only lived in a few places their whole lives. As an army brat, I can’t relate. What’s Saskatchewan like???

It does sound like maybe you’re not supposed to be working on the skirts at the moment… what is the universe trying to push you to do, instead of away from?

Sorry to hear that the skirts aren’t progressing… this is the only time of year I wear them:). Meteorologist? I never would have guessed.

I know you have way too much on your mind now, but I most definitely would be interested in changing the scope of the challenge after the vernal equinox. I love the idea of trying a new fiber or maybe, on my part, actually doing a decent job spinning on a spindle. Take care kiddo. Be patient with yourself. You’re in a tough place.

I’ve been distracted from blog reading the past few days. Sorry to hear about all the new family developments. It’s never good timing but I know it is probably especially poor timing right now. Let me know if there is anything I can do.

I’m slow lately - my thoughts are with you, Kristi. I’d put away the complex for a little while, and do something simple and soothing. Your plate is pretty full at the moment.

I like all your food choices very much!

Memes can be fun. Sorry about your grandmother - I hope things go well for your sister and I think being there for her makes sense.

I’ve been a little busy lately, and haven’t been keeping up too well with blogs.

First, I’d like to tell you how sorry I am about your Grandmother.

Secondly, congratulations on your significant weight loss. It takes focus and willpower to do what you have done. I am in awe.

Thanks for the link to the virtual model. I am having fun playing with her. I find that her arms and legs are much thinner than mine. I wish they let you adjust that too. I guess they just didn’t account for my fine peasant build when they designed her. :)
