Secret WIP

I’ve been having lots of shoulder/neck trouble again which has put a wrench in both knitting and computer time :-( I’m hoping I’m on the way to mended.

The break from knitting and computing has given me a bit of time to get the garden going. Fortunately, gardening strengthens a lot of the muscles that are currently weak from all the forward work of typing and knitting. In fact, several of the PT exercises from the last flare up were named after gardening tasks. So far, the north beds are all done and plants have been procured for at least one of the west beds.

Secret WIPWhile the weather here is not yet sweltering (knock on wood), I know it will not be long before I’m wishing we had AC. So, my mind has been turning towards both cotton and smaller projects lately. The photo above is of a secret project I’m working on at the moment. I’m using three different colors of Tahki Cotton Classic, a 100% mercerized cotton dk weight yarn. I’m a little bummed that my row of single crochet did not stop the curling… I’m thinking I’ll shall need to do more crochet around the edge, but have not yet decided whether to continue with the blue or do one row of each color. It’s in time out until I decide!

What are your favorite types of hot weather knitting? Or do you give up knitting in favor of other warm weather activities in the summer?

Sorry about your shoulder/neck trouble. I’ve missed seeing your blog posts, so I’m glad you’re back now.

Your photos are incredible. They’re like HD TV. Better than “real life”.

I agree that it can seem too hot for knitting sometimes. I hope to take up crochet this summer and finish some needlepoint.

I can completely sympathize about the shoulder/neck pain - I’m glad yours is improving!

I like to knit socks in the summer. Or bibs. Small projects, lightweight yarns.

I normally would say I just keep knitting as per usual, but we don’t have AC anymore in the new house, so I might wind up with something light and easy (like lace?) on the needles in the next coupla months.

Sorry to hear about your neck and shoulder pain. Hope you get better soon.

I have been quite busy now gardening season is in full flow. I have so many ideas buzzing in my head that it is hard to fit it all in :)

Hmmm, that is a good question, because this year I’m working on a bedspread and an afghan, both in cotton so its not too bad working on them. But you know I tend to knit whatever I want whenever I want and don’t worry about seasons. Often though I get the urge to knit wool come July to prepare for the coming winter.

Feel better!

I worked in the garden over the weekend and can barely move, I’m so out of shape!

i knit lace and socks all year long. with a sweater thrown in every once in a while. it gets extremely hot in the summer where i live (it was near 100 over this past weekend) so i have AC. and the couch all to myself, so i don’t have to keep my knitting on my lap.

Pretty secret knitting!

It’s usually warm here most of the year and I like to knit wool. I just basically suck it up for the most part.
